I am very afraid it is too late for Britain and Europe at the very least.
Khomeini’s focus on the Jews reminds me of the Hitler and the Nazis’ insistence that World War II was fought primarily against the Jews, despite their lack of a state or army. The Allies were merely puppets. It’s incredible how Jew-hate can stop people from seeing what is right in front of them and make them see something that isn’t there at all.
I liked “The Satanic Verses”, although I found it a bit overlong. People could only be so offended by it either by not reading it or by deliberately misreading it (a classic postmodern deconstructionist strategy, of course). Far worse things are regularly published or broadcast about Jewish or Christian religious figures with no backlash.
At some point, I will finish and post my review of Baroness Warsi’s terrible “Muslims Don’t Matter”. She throws “Islamophobia” around with reckless abandon and seems to think that any criticism of Islam, Islamism, radical Islam, some Muslims or any other formulation is “Islamophobic.” In other words, if you have nothing nice to say about Islam, say nothing at all – or else! She never mentions the word’s origins, of course.
Sadly I agree with you. But, life goes on Daniel. If it's "too late" to save Britain and Europe from Islam, what the hell are we going to do? Life doesn't just stop even if it's "too late."
Many of us forgot these essentials. Why? That's complicated. Here is my take.
After September 11, we saw the truth but... our best instincts (patriotism, sacrifice, and honesty about naming the perpetrators) were exploited by Bush & Co.
"Islam is a religion of peace."
Our energy was diverted away from fighting the real enemy - Islam - into futile "democracy building" (and not coincidentally, Global American Empire Building).
(Meanwhile, they didn't merely neglect the border, they encouraged illegals to pour over it. It's all related.)
The deep state, blob, whatever you want to call it simply regards the American republic as the base for projection of power, not a country with a culture and a civilization. This mentality naturally fosters the idea that Americans can be replaced.
The upshot: average people became soured towards everything and just checked out. Any hint of "Islamophobia" was rightly associated that with warmongering scammers.
Does this make sense?
At any rate, October 7 truly yanked the scales from my eyes. Pre-October 7, I was just like you. "We really have assimilated our Muslims, not like the British...." Yeah, right. MEMRI TV has videos of Dearborn supporting October 7 and other Muslim atrocities. I wouldn't have paid much attention to them before October 7.
The problem is that Islam already has a foothold in the US (see Michigan) and with current immigration trends, this will only gain momentum. I don't know that there is anything we can do about this. Politics is the art of the possible.
I hoping to eventually write a piece on Michigan, where I live. I've worked and spent a lot of time in Dearborn, and it's complicated, as any melting pot of Lebanese, Iraqi, Yemeni, and other Arab immigrants would be. One unifying factor for most of the groups there is Shia Islam. But you have everyone from the "Chanel and Starbucks" hijabs to face-veiled, dudes in long beards style of observance, as well as people who appear fully assimilated. But October 7th uncovered a lot of unreconstructed hate and victim narratives. As the Muslim community has grown, the Catholic labor Democrat prior population is shifting to mostly progressive PMC folks who celebrate multicultural dhimmitude.

I'll surely read your post.
My problem with hijabis who wear eyeliner is that, ultimately, they'll vote for the Hamas candidate. Or Hezbollah.
It's all political tribalism, which is why the unifying factor is Shi'a Islam, which to a Sunni should be heresy.
Soon there will be a dozen politicians who make Rashida Tlaib look like a moderate.
